VIP Crowd Employee Spotlight: Bryon Thompson
How did you end up working in your field and at VIP Crowd?
I have worked in sales my whole career. My first job was selling phone systems for Lucent Technologies. I then went to work for ADP, where I spent the bulk of my career, nearly 12 years. I left the big company atmosphere to go to work with Mark Wilson at a start up company called TermSync. That went well. Mark is VIP Crowd’s CEO and that is how I ended up back here at VIP Crowd.
What is your favorite part about working at VIP Crowd?
I love working for a small start up company, because you can make a huge difference. My experience with big companies are that you really are a small fish in a huge pond. Here at VIP Crowd, I love moving the needle.
Tell us about your role at VIP Crowd.
I run the sales and business development department here at VIP Crowd. We are ultra focused on finding new clients and trying to forge partnerships to help VIP Crowd grow.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I have limited time, as I have two kids who are very active in sporting activities. So, I’m an underpaid Uber driver for my kids in the evening. My son plays hockey and my daughter plays soccer.
That said, when I do make time for me, I love to waterski and bowhunt. We live on a lake, so I have a group of guys that I ski with in the mornings before work. It’s great to catch a sunrise, get some exercise in, and enjoy time with my friends. Also, as an outdoorsman, I enjoy bowhunting. I try to get out west every year for an elk hunt. This year I’ll be in Colorado. I also enjoy bowhunting whitetail and turkeys here in WI. Finally, I have alsorun 3 marathons and enjoy running to keep in shape.
What is one of the coolest things you’ve ever done/experienced?
I have two life experiences that are my go-to favorites.
I was fortunate enough to travel to China with my daughter with the Mad City Waterski team. The Chinese
government flew us over there to compete against their national team. It was an all expenses paid trip to ski and travel.
The other is an experience with my son. This past year he made a traveling hockey team and we got to travel all over the midwest this year watching him play high level hockey. I’m just really proud of my two kids and enjoy seeing them exceed.
